Environmental Health Assessment Oakland, CA

Your space is
already working
on your health.

The question is whether it's working for you or against you. Passive Wellness Co. measures every environmental factor affecting your health — air, water, light, EMF, temperature, acoustics, ergonomics — then designs and builds spaces that produce health automatically, without willpower or ongoing effort.

The Core Idea

Health doesn't have to be
actively maintained

Most wellness approaches require daily behavior change — diet, exercise, supplements, routine. These work, but they all share the same failure point: human consistency. Life disrupts routines.

Passive Wellness is a different model. Instead of changing what you do, we change what surrounds you. A properly designed environment produces health continuously — the air filtration runs while you sleep, the lighting spectrum shifts automatically at dusk, the acoustic treatment reduces cortisol without you thinking about it.

The environment is always on. That's the leverage point.

"Every space is either supporting your health or degrading it. That process is continuous, measurable, and correctable."
🔬
Measured, not guessed
We use clinical-grade instruments to quantify what your environment is actually doing — PM2.5 counts, lux levels, RF exposure, CO₂ concentration, reverberation time. Numbers, not impressions.
🏗️
Designed to specification
Every recommendation is benchmarked against WELL Building Standard, EPA guidelines, WHO targets, or peer-reviewed thresholds. The standard determines the target, not our opinion.
⚙️
Passive by design
Solutions are selected for what they do automatically — scheduled lighting, continuous filtration, structural acoustic treatment. We minimize the number of things that require your daily attention.
📊
Verified by re-assessment
After implementation we re-measure. You receive before-and-after data on every element we addressed. Improvement is documented, not assumed.

The Research

Why indoor environments
matter more than you think

The science on indoor environmental quality has been accumulating for decades. The practical translation — designing spaces to meet the benchmarks — is new.

101%
Improvement in cognitive performance in spaces with optimized ventilation and low VOC levels
Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health's COGfx Study tested 24 professionals in controlled indoor environments. Participants in green+ buildings with enhanced ventilation scored 101% higher on cognitive function tests versus conventional buildings. Decision-making and crisis response showed the largest gains.

😴
45°F
A bedroom 6°F below optimal sleep temperature (65–68°F) reduces deep sleep by up to 20%. Thermal comfort is the most underestimated sleep variable.
Walker, Matthew — Why We Sleep, 2017; OOLER Sleep Study Data
💡
49 lbs
Effective weight on the cervical spine at 45° of forward head angle. The average person spends 4+ hours daily at this angle looking at phones.
Hansraj, K.K. — Surgical Technology International, 2014
🌡️
1,000 ppm
CO₂ threshold above which cognitive decline becomes measurable. The average office reaches 1,200–2,000 ppm within two hours of occupancy without mechanical ventilation.
Satish et al. — Environmental Health Perspectives, 2012
🔇
66%
of open-plan office workers report noise as their primary productivity barrier. Speech intelligibility at 15 feet is addressable with ceiling-mount masking systems.

The Founder

12 years in clinical practice.
6 years building this.

Dr. Ben Glass is a Doctor of Chiropractic with over 12 years of clinical experience at The Shift Chiropractic and Oakland Accident Care. Over that time, he saw a recurring pattern: patients making real progress in the clinic, then returning with the same problems because nothing had changed in the environments they spent 90% of their lives in.

He began studying the intersection of chiropractic science, building biology, and environmental health — and what started as a clinical hypothesis became Passive Wellness Co. The environment, systematically optimized, does more consistent work than any therapy that ends when you leave the building.

Ben has completed over 200 depositions and 50 court testimonies as an expert witness, conducted 300+ podcast interviews, and holds bilingual practice capabilities in Spanish and Russian. He founded Urban Wellness Advocates to bring environmental health assessment to underserved Oakland neighborhoods where the health equity gap is most acute.

Generational Wellness Thesis

Generational wealth
has a
health equivalent

The same structural principles used to build generational wealth apply directly to building generational health. You invest early, you build durable assets, you let compounding do the work.

A home with documented environmental health — clean air, filtered water, calibrated light, low EMF, proper acoustics — is a fundamentally different asset than the same home without it. The health benefits compound through the family over time. The asset value compounds at sale.

This is environmental health as a long-position investment, not a wellness subscription you pay monthly and cancel.
